Because of less oxygen.
Explanation:
Covering with the glass will limit the amount of oxygen inside the glass that is left for the candle to burn. Once all the oxygen is used up by candle , it will stop burning...The carbon dioxide released will be left inside the glass that in turn will extinguish fire or flame of a candle.
