When a charged object is grounded, theexcess charge is balanced by the transfer of electrons between the charged object and a ground. ... So whenever you touch anycharged object then your body acts as a path to the flow of charge from excessivelycharged object to ground, thus charged object becomes neutral after that.

The human body is a good conductor of electricity. As electric currents take the fastest root from A to B, the current travels from the metal to our body. Thus the charged object loses its charge.
