We know that bar magent have magnetic lines of force.
Also, their is a magnet in compass needle so when their magnetic lines joined together they show us deflection.

The compass needle get deflected when brought near a bar magnet.
It is because the overall magnetic field of magnet actually exerts some force on the poles of compass needle.
When it comes to the force experienced by two poles, they are opposite and equal.
These kinds of two forces from the couple reflect a compass needle.
