Hi friend,


A compass needle is a small bar magnet. When it is brought near a bar magnet , its magnetic fields line interact with that of the bar magnet.


Hence, a compass needle shows a deflection when brought near the bar magnet.....i hope it helps you

The compass needle gets deflected when a bar magnet is brought near to it because instead of being attracted by the magnetic field of the earth, it is being attracted by the more powerful nearby magnetic field created by the bar magnet.
