Tropical cyclones use moist warm air as fuel. So cyclones occur in coastal areas. The humid air rises upward from the surface of the ocean. High pressure air pushes into low pressure area and the new air rises becomes moist and rises. As warm air rises, air swirls to take its place. The warm air cools off and the water in air becomes clouds. The clouds are swirling around, hereby causing a cyclone.
