1. It lays down the ideals, that form our country. That is citizens aspire to live in.
2. It provides rules that safe guard against the mis use of power by any political leader.
3. It provides a set of rules and principles on the basis of which a country has to be governed.
4. It also provides rights to it's citizens and protects their freedom.
5. It lays down rules to safe guard the interest minorities.
