Apples have less stuff in the same space than water, so they float. But grapes have more stuff than water in that space, so they sink."

The fresh apple floats on water because the 25% of their volume is air. If an item is more dense than water it will sink, it is less dense it will float. Apples are less dense than water, so they float. ☺️☺️
