Every action has an equal and opposite reaction as per newton's third law. When the bullet leaves the barrel, it exerts a force equal in magnitude but opposite to the force the gun applied to the bullet to shoot it. The momentum of the two objects are same but however due to the heavier mass of the gun, it recoil back by a much smaller distance as compared to the bullet.
