Hi there,

The number of zeroes of an equation depend on the degree of equation. Degree may be defined as the highest power of x. So that is why quadratic equation has 2 eroes, cubic has 3, biquadratic has 4 and so on.

We know that,

Number of zeroes of a n -degree polynomial = n.

First, a linear polynomial is in the form of ax + b, a≠0, a,b ∈R

Degree of the polynomial = highest degree of the terms
So here highest degree is 1.

Hence, Linear polynomial has only one zero.
