=> Ne2 contain 20 electrons..

=> Electronic configurations of Ne2 according to MOT is given by

(sigma 1s)2 (sigma* 1s)2 (sigma 2s)2 (sigma* 2s)2 (sigma 2pz)2 (pi 2px)2 (pi 2py)2 (pi* 2px)2 (pi* 2py)2 (sigma* 2pz)2

=> bond order = no. of bonding electrons - no. of antibonding(*) electrons / 2 = 10-10/2 = 0

=> Bond order = no. of bond = 0

=> thus Ne2 fail to exist...
