Why does a needle sink in water while an iron ship floats on it?

because density is the ratio of mass by volume, so density is inversely proportional to volume, i.e., if volume is more, density is less and vice versa.
In the case of an iron ship and a needle, the surface area of the ship is more than that of the needle, so the density of the needle is more, as compared to the ship because of which, the ship floats while the needle sinks.
