Newton's disc contained 7 colours(VIBGYOR).When he rotated the disc the colours combined to form white light as the colours are components of white light.

the newton's disc is made up of seven colours.
when it is rotated fast the colour blend to form white colour due to persistence of vision.
white light is a combination of mainly 7 colours so newton wanted to prove this by Carrying out this experiment.
