why does a paper clip remain afloat on the liquid suraface. give reason

It is because the mass of the paper clip is less than the mass of water and also paper clip unable to create sufficient force to get sink in water.

This phenomenon is caused by surface tension.

Surface tension is a phenomenon by which water resist any external force to act on it.
