Why does a pencil not wrote on glass surface

pencil needs a rough surface like paper to write on but glass has a smooth surface and there is also no friction between pencil and glass

Pencil is a substance that works on a rough surface.It will work only on a rough surface like paper.When it is drawn on a smooth surface like glass it will not work.
