● Chalk appears in white colour because of the presence of calcium carbonate in it.
● Calcium carbonate has the capacity to absorb only ultraviolet radiation and infrared rays which are colourless.
● Such absorbed ultraviolet and infrared rays are reflected out as they are with the same wavelength and hence Chalk appears to be in white colour.
