(1)when a ray of light goes from a rarer medium to a denser medium,it bends towards the normal

Answer:

The ray of light undergoes refraction in both the cases due to which it bends.

Explanation:

When light enters from air to glass slab its speed decreases and bends towards the  normal.

But when the light travels from glass slab to air its speed increases and bends  away from the normal.
