TI IS DUE TO THE DIFFERENCE IN THE SPEED OF LIGHT IN DIFFERENT MEDIA OF DIFFERENT OPTICAL DENSITY(NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH DENSITY. EXAMPLE. KEROSENE IS LESS DENSE THAN WATER HAS THE SAME DENSITY, BUT KEROSENE HAS A HIGHER OPTICAL DENSITY )
