hey there !!
rough surface have a great friction in comparison of smooth surface because , rough surface is irregular and not plain .
on rough surface friction got increases cause on irregular surfaces the base of the object will stuck of most and causes to increment in friction .
but in a smooth surface the base of object travels very smoothly and cause its plain almost and causes a little friction to occur .
like the friction is too less on the ice in comparison of road . just because of the above reasons .
