Non volatile substances are ionic substances and ionic substances have higher boiling point and hence when they are added to a solvent the boiling tem. Rises.
It is colligative property because it is determined by the bounding force (coulombic force) of the molecule..

The boiling point of solution is higher because the non volatile solute lowers the vapour pressure of the solvent .
