Why does a tadpole live in water but a frog lives on land?

as tadpole lives in water because they still havent developed lungs as frogs do posses....they only have a less developed gills ...so that they can only breath in water not ion land....

because a tadpole get thyroxine from the water but after it becomes a frog it doesn't need that hormone much.Therefore they live on land.
