A vehicle slows down when brakes are applied. This is due to the force of friction which is there between thebrake and the wheel of the vehicle.

Answer:
Explanation:when we are running the vehicle so the frictional force is acting on it opposite to the direction of its motion but the external force applied by us on the vehicle is more than the frictional force and hence the vehicle keeps on moving but when we press the brake lever so the external force gradually reduces and hence the force of friction is able to slow down the speed of the vehicle and prevent it form moving.
