Why does absorption of digested food occur mainly in the small intestine mention any four reasons?

It is a work of small intestine. Small intestine consist of intestinal glands. Which can digest the food absorb it easily and divide them in useful and waste part. Absorb the useful part and waste goes through large intestine. So it is because of glands in intestine.
