According to Mendal’s first law of dominance, “when two organisms differing in a pair of contrasting characters are crossed, the character which appears in F1 should be called dominant and the character which remains hidden and is expressed in F2 is recessive”.......

When two varieties with contrasting characters are crossed, in f1 generation only one variety of plants will be produced......

Another variety will be suppressed.....

Here the character that is expressed is dominant as it is dominating the other variety......

The unexpressed character is recessive.....

Thus in F1 only the dominant characters are expressed.
