We know that in the process of aerobic respiration our human cells utilizes 'Oxygen' to produce ATP which is a form of energy.
But while running amount of oxygen inhaled become less which results in lack of energy and starts forming lactic acid in our body.
Therefore, an athlete breathe faster after running to increase the amount of oxygen in our body in order to form energy to carry out our life processes.
Thus, to fulfil the need of energy he breath faster.
