An astronaut wears a special suit because there is no pressure exerted on the outside of his body as space is a vacuum.
Since our bodies have evolved to live under the atmospheric pressure here on Earth, the air pressure inside our bodies matches with the pressure outside.
In space, if an astronaut does not wear a protective suit, he will explode because of this pressure inside his body.
Moreover, our atmosphere protects us from harmful cosmic radiation. Without a special suit, the astronaut's will suffer from radiation poisoning.

SUM UP- He will surely die without a special suit.
