Electromagnet is a magnet whose magnetism is controlled by the current flowing in it . It works on the magnetic effect of current .It is made by wrapping copper coil around soft iron core . If we switch on the current in the coil it starts to behave as a magnet and attract metal substances but all the magnetism disappears as soon as the current is switched off . It’s strength can be changed by changing the number of turns and the amount of current flowing through it .
