Because left cerebral hemisphere has the nerves which are connected to organs of right side of the body. So when left cerebral hemisphere is damaged then those nerves will be non functional . So when left cerebral hemisphere is damaged then it results to paralysis of right side of body and vice versa happens

The brain innervation is in such a way that the left hemisphere of the brain controls the right side of the body while the right hemisphere of the brain controls the left side. This is the reason why a brain injury to the one hemisphere of the brain causes paralysis of defects on the opposite side of the body
