Why does an injury to left cerebral hemisphere result in paralysis of organs the right side of the body and vice versa?

The brain innervation is in such a way that the left hemisphere of the brain controls the right side of the body while the right hemisphere of the brain controls the left side. This is the reason why a brain injury to the one hemisphere of the brain causes paralysis of defects on the opposite side of the body.
