Shadow is a dark space behind an opaque object where light does not reach.
Conditions necessary for the formation of Shadow:
--> There should be an opaque object.
--> Source of light and
---> Object must be placed in the path of light.
Reasons for formation:
--> Light always travels in straight path
--> When opaque object obstructs the path of light
---> we get a shadow.
