Shadow has formed when the opaque object comes in the light path because the light travels in the path of straight line and then the “opaque object” obstructs it, shadow is formed.

an opaque object forms a shadow because when it faces the other side opposite it gets light so this side is in dark . an perfect example is our sun and the earth.
