On the one hand, Anne had a quiet, contemplative and serious side and on the other hand, she noisy and rambunctious. The latter side is what displayed the confidence with which she carried herself but she also realized that it was superficial because it was a visage she projected to the world. The quieter Anne was remarkably mature and astute in her observations on life and people. She had this exuberant cheerfulness, flippancy and joie de vivre which helped her appreciate the lighter things in life such as flirtations, a kiss, an embrace or an off-colour joke.This side of Anne would lie in wait to ambush the other one which was much purer, deeper and finer. No one was aware of this side and that is why most people could not stand her thinking that she was only capable of being an amusing clown. People viewed her from one aspect and that was as a romantic movie is to a profound thinker-a mere diversion, comic interlude that will soon be forgotten because it wasn't worth the viewer's time. Her lighter, superficial side did steal a march over the other deeper side but it also gave her the courage to face the world without inhibitions. The quieter Anne never made an appearance in company and she would clam up if asked to speak. However, Anne was acutely aware of this deeper side and she knew her own worth. She was reputed to be boy-crazy as well as a flirt, a smart aleck and a reader of romances but she also possessed a profundity of thought and a maturity beyond her years.
