Why does atmospheric pressure decrease so rapidly with altitude?

here is ur answer..
At higher elevations, there are fewer air molecules above a given surface than a similar surface at lower levels.In simple words we can say as we move to a higher altitude the density of the air is decreased .Lesser the air molecules in the atmosphere lesser the air pressure.
