As we move from left to right in a period, there is increase in the number of protons and electrons across a period. So nuclear effective force increases but no new orbitals are not added so the size decreases.

Hey buddy here is ur answer !!!
★ Atomic radius decreases from left to right within a period. This is caused by the increase in the number of protons and electrons across a period. One proton has a greater effect than one electron; thus, electrons are pulled towards the nucleus, resulting in a smallerradius. This is caused by electron shielding.
★ For example ;
→ if there are two element K and Ca
→ K has a greater atomic radius than that of Ca because when we move down a group , the atomic radius increases and when we move from left to right in a peroid , the atomic radius decreases .
