Bacteria and plants show least variation in their shape because they have cell wall which enables them to withstand in tough conditions so they don't show more variation .

Definition of variation :

The change in characters or traits of an individual which have not existed in their parents is called variation. Variation can occurs either due to mutation or crossing over during meiosis.

  • The difference in the same species are seen.
  • It is important for survival and adaptation of a species.

Why does bacteria and plant shown least variation ?

Bacteria reproduce by asexual method. So the variation in bacteria can only occur through mutation which can be reduced due to the cell wall. Similarly for plants, Despite the recombination in plant the variations are relatively less when compared to animal or protozoan cells. Since they don't have cell wall and are more prone to mutations due to radiation.

  • Bacteria and plants have cell wall that enable them to withstand in strong conditions.
