Answer:

When a ray of light travels from one medium to another, its speed changes and this change in speed of light causes a part of wave to travel slower than the other part. Thus, bending of light takes place in refraction.

Look bro first bending of light will only take place if you choose such a path for light ray whose dimensions are much closer to wavelength of light. Now the question is why bending occur consider a glass slab now consider why light not goes straight through glass slab why it bends at the interface because the intermolecular distance between atoms of solid glass slab so that it affects the light passing through it and occur a bending effect in path of light now why not light bends in are because the intermolecular distance between gaseous particles are so large in comparision to wavelength of light that it would be like uunth ke muh mein jeera so it can not affect path of light and light goes straight up.
