Why does blending ethanol into fuel improve the combustion of gasoline?

It is due to as we know it absorbs water vapor directly from the atmosphere. Because absorbed water dilutes the fuel value of the ethanoland may cause phase separation ofethanol-gasoline blends (which causes engine stall), containers ofethanol fuels must be kept tightly sealed.
