Why does blood return to the lungs?

the deoxygenated blood returns to the lungs to get oxidized and then it could be taken to heart again so that it is spread through out the body.

once blood travels to the pulmonary valve it enters your lungs this is called the pulmonary circulation from your pulmonic valve blood travels to the Pulmonary artery to tiny capillary vessels in the lungs at the same time carbon dioxide a waste product of the metabolism passes from the blood into the air sacs
