Why does boiling point of water decrease if atmospheric pressure decreases?

As elevation increases atmospheric pressure decrease because air is less dense at higher altitudes. Because the atmospheric pressure is lower the vapour pressure of the liquid need to be lower to reach boiling point. The boiling point is lower at high altitude..
