The assassination of Julius Caesarwas the result of a conspiracy by many Roman senators led by Gaius Cassius Longinus, Decimus Junius BrutusAlbinus, and Marcus Junius Brutus. They stabbed Caesar (23 times) to death in a location adjacent to the Theatre of Pompey on the Ides of March 15 March 44 BC.

Brutus stabbed Caesar because:

Brutus was killed by Caesar for one main reason. The main reason was that Caesar was gaining too much adoration from the people to the point that they were crowning and calling Caesar the king of the Roman Empire.

  • Brutus did not want the Roman Empire to fall into the hands of a single person and was afraid of the power and influence that Caesar was gaining. It was due to this reason that Brutus killed Caesar, despite him being a close friend of Caesar. He believed it to be for the betterment of the Roman Empire and saving it from a would-be tyrant and held no personal grudge against him.
  • He was called by the senators under the guise of crowning him and then on the ides of March (15th march) (where Caesar was later stabbed 23 times and Brutus had stabbed him from behind, a good reference to how he had backstabbed him.
