Brutus give various reasons for assassinating Caesar. He says that Caesar had become ambitious and would have wronged the Romans if he had lived and became dictator. He justifies Ceasar killing by stating that he loved Ceasar as a friend but not more than Rome and so conspirated against him for the sake of their country.

As Caesar was becoming too ambitious, Brutus tells "he likes Caesar but loved Rome more". So for the betterment of Rome he stabbed Caesar.
