why does carbon forms compounds by covalent bonding​

because it has valency 4

It is because it has 4 valence electrons so if it would form cation ( lose 4 electrons ) it would be very difficult for 6 protons to hold to 2 electrons

if it would form anion(gaining electrons ) it would be very difficult to hold 10 electrons so it shares 4 electrons
