why does caustic soda give a feeling of soapy touch!​

Alkalis react with oils to form soap. Our skin contain oils in the form of fat and therefore, when we touch caustic soda it reacts with the oil present in our skin to form soap. This gives the feeling of soapy touch.

The soap is made by the reaction of faaty acid with glycerol and also by base and oil . Due to touching of caustic soda the oil present in our hand react with it and give us a feeling of soapy touch.....
