Why does chewing gets hard when we drink water on it ??explain

If you have a piece of gum in your mouth and you drink cold water, the temperature of the gum changes and becomes cold. Since the gum is so sensitive to temperature, it gets stiff.

The chewing gum gets more flexible at body heat hence gum doesn't become stiff while you are chewing.
