An iron nail is placed in a copper sulphate solution solution, iron displaces copper from copper sulphate solution forming iron sulphate, which is light green in colour. It is because iron is more reactive than copper.

Iron being more reactive than copper sulphate displaces copper sulphate from its place.. cuso4 + Fe -------- feso4 + cu. Cuso4 is in blue colour but after displacement reaction ,it changes into feso4 which is green colour salt.
