Why does copper(II) sulfate react with ammonia?

Copper(II) ion reacts with stoichiometric quantities of aqueousammonia to precipitate light blueCu(OH)2. Some basic salts may also form. The precipitate does not dissolve in excess sodium hydroxide unless the NaOH solution is very concentrated.hey i am not sure but hope it helps
