Are u thinking about this reaction.
Cu+H2SO4--->CuSO4+ H2.
well the reason is If u see copper is going from 0 to +2 oxidation state.
But oxidation potential of Cu is less than 0 ( I.e Less that Hydrogen) therefore it tends to reduce itself rather than oxidizing itself
