why does cord of an electric heater not glow white the heating element does​

The heatingelement of the heater is made up of alloy which has very high resistance so whencurrent flows through the heatingelement, it becomes too hot andglows red. But the resistance ofcord which is usually of copper or aluminium is very law so it does not glow.
