Why does cu+HCl give no reaction but CuO+HCl gives CuCl2+H2O as a reaction?? Shouldn't that also give no reaction as Cu is below H in the reactivity series

HEY MATE
HERE'S YOUR ANSWER
___________________________
Ya, you are right Cu+HCL gives no reaction because Cu is below H in reactivity series
But CuO+HCL gives CuCl+H2O because Oxygen has a higher valency then hydrogen SO, even copper has lower valency Oxygen combinations with it and makes high valency and displaces hydrogen from the reaction.
Thus the results gives CuCl+H2O.

There will be no reaction. Copper is a very unreactive metal, and it does not react with hydrochloric acid. It is above copper in a metal reactivity series, so copper cannot replace the hydrogen in HCl to form CuCl2.
