Why does cycloalkanes undergo ring opening reaction rather than addition reaction?

The higher cycloalkanes do notundergo addition reactions but give substitution reactions. Cyclopropane and its derivatives are most reactive and least stable where as, cyclobutaneis less reactive and cyclopentane isstill less reactive more stable.
