Why does Delhi experience extreme weather

Delhi lies much to the interior of the Indian subcontinent and this makes the climate continental. Lying about 28 degrees to the north of the equator makes it a temperate climate region.
Why is Delhi very hot? It's because Delhi doesnt have the moderating effect of the oceans, which reduce the temperature. Also the Himalayas block the cold waves from the Siberian plains, which keep the average annual temperature higher than normal temperate regions. Add to that the local winds like Loo and the high pressure region in the Rajasthan Desert and the culminating effect is that Delhi becomes a furnace.
Now, why Delhi is cold? The interior parts of continents get heated up faster and cool faster too, than compared to the coastal parts. The normal temperate climate in the region justifies a cold winter but the impending climate change is making temperature drop (and rise) anomalously over the past few years, as was seen in the United States and surrounding regions last year.
The region between the Tropic of Cancer and the 66.5 degree latitude has extreme climates in interior continental regions due to these factors, which are subject to local conditions.
